Karachi: The Sindh government has officially appointed Barrister Ghulam Shabbir Shah as the new Prosecutor General of Sindh, according to a notification issued by the provincial Law Department.
The appointment fills a key legal position in the province that had remained vacant following the elevation of the previous Prosecutor General, Justice Faiz Shah, to the Sindh High Court.

The Sindh Law Department released a formal notification confirming the appointment of Barrister Ghulam Shabbir Shah as Prosecutor General. With the issuance of the notification, he will assume responsibility for overseeing prosecution matters on behalf of the provincial government.

Son of Provincial Minister Nasir Hussain Shah
Barrister Ghulam Shabbir Shah is the son of Sindh Local Government Minister Nasir Hussain Shah, a senior leader of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and a prominent member of the provincial cabinet.
His appointment has drawn public attention due to his family connection with a serving provincial minister. However, the government has formally announced the appointment through the prescribed legal process.
Vacancy Created After High Court Appointment
The office of Prosecutor General became vacant after Faiz Shah was appointed as a judge of the Sindh High Court.
Following that appointment, Additional Prosecutor General Muntazir Mehdi had been serving as the acting Prosecutor General of Sindh, carrying out the responsibilities of the office on an interim basis.
With Barrister Ghulam Shabbir Shah’s appointment, the position has now been filled on a permanent basis.
