The Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) Sukkur has issued a statement strongly condemning what it described as an alleged campaign of character assassination and blackmail against Professor Dr. Abdul Saboor Soomro, a senior and well-known surgeon associated with the SIUT Sukkur Centre. The association has also expressed prayers and good wishes for the recovery of Dr. Khair Muhammad Shah.

According to the press release, an incident occurred at the SIUT Toll Plaza Sukkur where Dr. Khair Muhammad Shah, also known as Dr. Khair Muhammad Shah Abro, presented himself in an emergency condition. The attending duty doctor conducted a full medical examination and advised his admission to Civil Hospital Chablani, Sukkur, for further treatment. However, the patient reportedly did not agree to admission and later proceeded to Karachi on his own decision. The statement added that, by the grace of Almighty Allah, Dr. Khair Muhammad Shah’s condition is now reported to be improving, and doctors across Sindh, including members of PMA Sukkur, are praying for his complete recovery.

The PMA further stated that after the incident, an individual claiming to be the brother of the patient allegedly began a social media campaign against Prof. Dr. Abdul Saboor Soomro. The association described these actions as defamation and an attempt at blackmail, and strongly condemned them in clear terms. It added that the medical community across Sindh stands in solidarity with Dr. Abdul Saboor Soomro and will not tolerate any injustice or unfounded allegations against any doctor.

The statement also highlighted the professional background and services of Prof. Dr. Abdul Saboor Soomro, describing him as a senior professor and expert in urology, particularly in kidney and bladder diseases. It noted that he is serving as in-charge of SIUT Sukkur Centre and is highly skilled in performing complex surgical procedures using modern techniques including endoscopy, laser treatment, and robotic surgery.

It further stated that SIUT Sukkur provides completely free treatment and major surgical procedures for poor and deserving patients suffering from kidney-related diseases. The press release also credited Prof. Soomro with actively conducting public awareness campaigns regarding kidney diseases, diabetes, and other health conditions to promote preventive healthcare in society.

The PMA Sukkur emphasized that Prof. Dr. Abdul Saboor Soomro is widely respected across Sindh for his professional integrity, high ethical standards, and dedicated humanitarian medical services.
