Beijing: Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has reaffirmed the strength of Pakistan-China relations, stating that the friendship between the two countries remains “rock solid” regardless of changes in global or regional circumstances.
According to a statement issued by China’s Foreign Ministry, Wang Yi made the remarks during a meeting with Pakistan’s Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, in Beijing.
The Chinese foreign minister emphasized that the Pakistan Army has consistently played an important role in promoting cooperation between the two countries and strengthening bilateral strategic relations.
“No matter how global and regional situations change, the friendship between China and Pakistan remains as solid as a rock,” Wang Yi stated during the meeting.
He further noted that the Pakistan military has always been an important force in advancing Pakistan-China cooperation across multiple sectors, including security, regional stability, and strategic coordination.
The meeting highlighted the close and longstanding partnership between Islamabad and Beijing, often described by leaders of both countries as an “iron brotherhood” and an “all-weather strategic cooperative partnership.”
According to the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Field Marshal Asim Munir expressed pride in the enduring and unbreakable friendship between Pakistan and China. He stated that Pakistan highly values its strategic ties with Beijing and considers China one of its most trusted international partners.
The field marshal also acknowledged China’s growing global influence in recent years and praised Beijing’s role in promoting international peace, economic development, and multilateral cooperation.
According to the official statement, Asim Munir said that Chinese President Xi Jinping’s major global initiatives — including the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and other international cooperation frameworks — have played an important role in advancing global peace and development.
The Belt and Road Initiative, launched by President Xi Jinping, aims to improve regional connectivity, trade, infrastructure development, and economic cooperation among participating countries. Pakistan remains one of the key partners in the initiative through the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), considered a flagship BRI project.
The discussions between Wang Yi and Field Marshal Asim Munir reportedly also covered regional security issues, bilateral cooperation, and evolving international developments.
Analysts view the meeting as another sign of the deep strategic trust between Pakistan and China at a time of shifting geopolitical alignments and rising global uncertainty. Beijing and Islamabad have consistently supported each other on various diplomatic, economic, and security matters over the years.
China has repeatedly emphasized its support for Pakistan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, economic stability, and development agenda, while Pakistan has continued to back China on issues of regional and international importance.
Experts say the reaffirmation of strong military-to-military ties is particularly significant given ongoing regional security challenges in South Asia and the broader Middle East. Cooperation between the armed forces of both countries has expanded in recent years through joint exercises, defense collaboration, intelligence sharing, and strategic dialogue.
Observers also note that China’s public acknowledgment of the Pakistan Army’s role in bilateral relations reflects the importance Beijing attaches to security cooperation and regional stability.
The latest engagement in Beijing comes amid increased diplomatic activity between the two countries, with both sides seeking to strengthen economic partnerships, enhance regional connectivity, and coordinate on international forums.
Diplomatic circles believe the meeting once again demonstrated the exceptional depth of Pakistan-China relations, which both countries continue to describe as a partnership based on mutual trust, shared interests, and longstanding friendship.
