BEIJING: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has said that continuous efforts are being made to slow down China’s economic growth, but emphasized that China’s rise as a global economic power can no longer be stopped.

Addressing the second Pakistan-China Political Parties Forum in Beijing, Ishaq Dar praised China’s extraordinary economic transformation and said Pakistan should learn from China’s model of development and progress.

“The world knows only 10 percent of China’s economic development,” he said. “People do not fully realize how far China has advanced economically. I want to say openly that continuous attempts are being made to stop China’s economic growth.”

The deputy prime minister expressed confidence that China would soon become the world’s number one economic power.

“China’s progress can no longer be stopped, and very soon China will emerge as the world’s leading economic power,” Ishaq Dar stated. “Pakistan needs to learn the secret of development from China.”

He highlighted the longstanding friendship between Pakistan and China, describing it as unique in the world and based on mutual trust, cooperation, and support.

“There is no example in the world like the friendship between Pakistan and China,” he said, adding that all political parties and institutions in Pakistan share a unified stance regarding relations with Beijing.

Ishaq Dar also thanked China for its support to Pakistan during what he referred to as the “Battle for Truth,” emphasizing that Chinese cooperation has remained consistent during difficult times.

The foreign minister noted that bilateral cooperation between the two countries has expanded into multiple sectors, including science, technology, and space exploration.

“With China’s cooperation, Pakistani astronauts will also travel to space,” he said.

He further stated that Pakistan and China have consistently worked together on regional and international matters through close consultation and coordination.

According to Ishaq Dar, the leadership of both countries remained in contact during the ongoing Middle East crisis and jointly discussed ways to promote regional peace and stability.

“Pakistan and China presented a five-point peace plan for the Middle East after detailed consultations,” he said. “The world appreciated the Pakistan-China five-point peace initiative.”

The deputy prime minister also addressed concerns regarding the Strait of Hormuz, a strategically vital global oil shipping route, saying that Pakistan and China remain in close communication regarding any possible closure or disruption in the area.

“Pakistan and China are in complete coordination regarding the Strait of Hormuz, and a joint strategy has been prepared in this regard,” he added.

Analysts believe Ishaq Dar’s remarks reflect Pakistan’s continued support for China amid increasing global geopolitical competition and underline Islamabad’s desire to strengthen strategic, economic, and diplomatic cooperation with Beijing.

The Pakistan-China Political Parties Forum was attended by representatives from political parties, diplomats, policymakers, and officials from both countries, focusing on regional cooperation, economic development, and bilateral relations.
