Russia has accused Ukraine of carrying out a strike on a school hostel in the Luhansk region, resulting in the deaths of six people and injuries to 39 others.
According to international media reports, Russian President Vladimir Putin claimed that the attack took place late at night and targeted a hostel housing school children. He stated that around 15 people are still missing following the incident.
Russian officials further said that approximately 86 children were present in the hostel at the time of the alleged strike. Moscow described the attack as a “deliberate targeting of civilians” and labeled it a “terrorist act.”
President Putin also warned that Russia would respond strongly, instructing military forces to remain prepared for further action in response to what he described as continued Ukrainian attacks.
However, Ukraine has strongly rejected Russia’s allegations, denying any involvement in the reported strike on the children’s hostel. Ukrainian authorities dismissed the claims as false and part of ongoing information warfare between the two sides.
The conflicting statements highlight the continued escalation and deep mistrust between Russia and Ukraine, where both countries frequently accuse each other of targeting civilian areas amid the ongoing conflict.
International observers have repeatedly expressed concern over civilian safety, especially in regions close to active frontlines, where verification of claims remains difficult due to restricted access and ongoing hostilities.
