Lahore: The Punjab government has imposed Section 144 around airports and airbases across the province in an effort to strengthen aviation safety and protect human lives and property.
According to the Punjab Home Department, restrictions have been enforced around all airbases and airports in the province to prevent activities that could interfere with flight operations or pose risks to aircraft safety.
Under the newly issued notification, activities including kite and pigeon flying, the use of laser lights, and the throwing of animal waste or meat remains near airports and airbases have been banned.
Officials stated that such activities are considered dangerous because they can disrupt aircraft movement, distract pilots, and create serious risks during takeoff and landing operations.
The Home Department said the decision was taken to ensure the protection of both human lives and public property, particularly during a period of increased travel and aviation activity.
According to the notification, the restrictions will remain in effect for 30 days throughout Punjab.
Authorities clarified that the ban applies not only to military airbases but also to the surrounding areas of commercial airports operating across the province.
The Punjab Home Department warned that violations of Section 144 could lead to legal action under relevant laws.
Security officials explained that laser lights directed toward aircraft can temporarily impair pilots’ vision, especially during night flights, creating potentially dangerous situations.
Similarly, the disposal of animal waste and meat remains near airports can attract birds, increasing the risk of bird strikes that may damage aircraft engines and threaten passenger safety.
Officials also noted that pigeon flying in areas surrounding airports poses a serious hazard for aircraft operations due to the possibility of birds entering flight paths.
Authorities have instructed local administrations and law enforcement agencies to strictly implement the restrictions and monitor sensitive zones near airports and airbases.
Police and district administrations have been directed to take immediate action against anyone found violating the ban.
The move comes as aviation authorities worldwide continue to emphasize stronger safety measures around airports to minimize operational risks and prevent accidents.
Residents living near airports and airbases have been urged to cooperate with authorities and avoid activities prohibited under the new restrictions.
The Punjab government stated that public cooperation is essential for maintaining flight safety and ensuring smooth aviation operations across the province.
