This was decided in a special meeting chaired by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.

The meeting agreed to immediately launch a pilot project across 120 villages.

The meeting also decided to form a ‘Village Committee’ in every village, in consultation with public representatives.

In this regard, Chief Minister has granted approval and sought a comprehensive plan for immediate formation of village committees.

The meeting briefed that the relevant Assistant Commissioner will head the Village Committee.

The Deputy Commissioner will oversee all Village Committees and the project as a whole.

Each Village Committee will consist of four public representatives and four government representatives

The Village Committee will include the head teacher, the Union Council Secretary, a doctor from the Basic Health Unit (BHU) or ‘Maryam Nawaz Health Clinic,’ and others.

Sewerage systems, drainage, and paved streets will be constructed in every village.

“Our resolve to transform all villages into ‘model villages’ remains unshakable, said Maryam Nawaz.

Maryam Nawaz said development is no longer confined to major cities; its benefits will reach every single village.

Local residents will be consulted regarding the development of their villages, Maryam Nawaz added.

She said the day is not far when every village in Punjab will become an exemplary model.

“We will ensure quality and transparency in village development at all costs”, Maryam Nawaz said.

She said members of the Assembly and party ticket holders will act as overseers for development projects in their respective villages.
