The Balochistan government has decided to launch the Quetta Integrated Security Project to modernise the security and policing system in the province.

The decision was taken during a high-level meeting on security and policing chaired by Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti.

2,900 modern surveillance cameras would be installed across the city under the Quetta Green Digital Corridor project to strengthen security and monitoring.

New stations of the Quick Response Force (QRF) will also be established under the Project, while measures are being taken to bring the Balochistan Police in line with modern requirements to effectively tackle terrorism.

The Additional Chief Secretary Home and Inspector General of Police Balochistan briefed the meeting on the prevailing security situation and ongoing measures related to policing.

The meeting was further informed that police reforms and departmental accountability were underway, with 871 personnel dismissed over absenteeism and negligence.

1,005 police personnel deployed with various personalities have also been withdrawn and returned to the police department.

CM Sarfraz Bugti directed that police personnel be provided with the necessary training and resources to effectively respond to terrorism-related challenges and will be provide complete support to our police against terrorism.

He added that the provincial government stood shoulder to shoulder with the brave police and security forces.

The chief minister stressed the need to control non-developmental expenditures and utilize available resources for public welfare.

“We have to work for the common man of Balochistan who shivers in the cold and swelters in the heat,” he said.
