The Lahore High Court adjourned the hearing of a petition seeking fixation of the wheat support price at Rs5,000 per maund after granting time to the federal government’s law officer to submit a reply.
Justice Ahmed Nadeem Arshad heard the petition filed by Kissan Board Pakistan President Sardar Zafar Hussain.
During the hearing, counsel for the petitioner argued that timely determination of the wheat support price would help prevent a crisis.
The petitioner requested the court to order the government to announce the wheat support price while keeping farmers’ interests in view.
The petition also sought directions to fix the wheat support price at Rs5,000 per maund.
The federal government’s law officer requested time to submit a response, which the court granted. The court then adjourned the hearing.
