Couple Married Through Court Appeals for Protection Amid Death Threats, Protests at Sukkur Press Club

Sukkur (Bureau Report): A married couple from Dera Allah Yar, Tehsil Jhat Pat, District Jaffarabad, arrived at the Sukkur Press Club seeking protection for their lives. During a protest demonstration, they alleged that the girl’s family and local police, under pressure from influential individuals, were continuously harassing them and their relatives.

According to details, Qasim Ali, son of Arz Muhammad Gola Mirali, along with his wife Nadia Shamsuddin, spoke to the media at the Sukkur Press Club. They stated that they had legally solemnized their court marriage at the Sukkur Sessions Court on May 15, 2026. They said the marriage was conducted with mutual consent and happiness, but since then, the girl’s family has been threatening them with serious consequences instead of accepting the relationship.

Speaking to the media, Nadia Shamsuddin clarified that she married Qasim Ali Gola of her own free will and consent. She emphasized that she was neither kidnapped nor forced into the marriage. She said she wanted to live a peaceful and happy life with her husband, but her parents and other relatives had been continuously harassing her and her in-laws since the marriage.

The couple further alleged that the girl’s father, brothers, and maternal uncles — including Naseebullah, Habibullah, Khaliq, Nasrullah Gola, and other close relatives — had filed a false kidnapping case against them after the marriage. They also accused the local police of troubling them under the influence of powerful individuals. Qasim Ali Gola stated that they had fulfilled all legal requirements and solemnized the marriage through the court, yet his family was facing retaliatory actions.

During the protest, the couple expressed fear that they could become victims of an honor killing. They appealed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan, the Chief Minister of Balochistan, the Inspector General (IG) of Balochistan, the DIG Balochistan, and the SSP Jaffarabad to immediately provide legal protection to them and their families.

The protesters requested that their statement be made part of the official record so that, in the event of any untoward incident in the future, action could be taken against the responsible individuals. They stated that if any harm came to them, the husband, or their in-laws, the girl’s family should be held responsible.

At the conclusion of the protest, the affected couple demanded that higher authorities take immediate notice, stop police harassment, and provide them with protection and justice so they could live their lives without fear or intimidation.
