KARACHI: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast light rain in Karachi today (Tuesday), with the weather expected to remain hot and humid over the next 24 hours.
The maximum temperature in the city is likely to remain between 35°C and 37°C today, the weather department said.
The minimum temperature recorded in Karachi was 28°C, while the humidity level stood at 81%, it added.
Winds are blowing from the southwest at a speed of 11 kilometres per hour. The PMD said that light rain could occur in different parts of Karachi today.
The forecast comes as a monsoon system over South Chhattisgarh and adjoining areas continues to move westward, with the weather department expecting rain and thunderstorms in parts of Sindh until September 16.
The spell is expected to affect several districts, particularly areas in southeastern Sindh, with intermittent breaks in rainfall, according to the weather department.
Meanwhile, the Sindh Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has advised relevant authorities to take precautionary measures and remain vigilant during the expected weather spell.
