The Anti-Corruption Establishment Punjab has initiated inquiry against former Deputy Commissioner Khanewal Maleeha Rasheed on Thursday.

However, Director General Counter Terrorism Department (CCD) Sohail Zafar Chattha has yet not confirmed taking the former DC into custody.

The investigation has been started as per orders of Chief Minister Punjab Maryum Nawaz Sharif after knowing about the alleged involvement of former DC Khanewal into financial bungling into Khanewal’s Akbar Bazaar beautification project.

The former DC is charged with corruption in connivance with the contractor who reportedly has fled after receiving advance payment while the project remained incomplete amid significant delay.
