Three people drowned after a launch struck rocks and overturned in the sea near Kundan Lani Goth, close to Gadani in Hub, while three others were rescued.

The incident took place when the launch collided with rocks and overturned, throwing six people into the sea.

Three of them were rescued by the Edhi Foundation’s meritime rescue team, while the other three drowned.

The Edhi Foundation launched a maritime search and rescue operation following the accident. Its teams recovered the bodies of all three missing people from the sea.

Edhi officials identified the victims as Sher Muhammad, Aamir and Salaam. The foundation later confirmed that its maritime search and rescue operation had been completed.

The Edhi Foundation operates a dedicated maritime and coastal rescue service that carries out search, rescue and recovery operations along Pakistan’s coastlines, rivers and lakes.

Its marine teams use rescue boats and trained divers to search for survivors and recover people who have drowned.

The foundation has a fleet of 28 rescue boats for operations along the Arabian Sea coastline and for helping communities affected by severe flooding.

Its marine teams also work with the foundation’s aviation wing, which includes two aircraft and a helicopter, during wider search and rescue operations.

The Edhi Foundation’s maritime teams regularly respond to drowning incidents at high-risk beaches around Karachi, including Hawkesbay and Turtle Beach.

During major maritime emergencies or complex recovery operations, they also coordinate with state authorities, including the Pakistan Navy and the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency.
