Pakistan Condemns Missile and Drone Attacks on UAE, Urges Respect for Ceasefire

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has strongly condemned the recent missile and drone attacks on the United Arab Emirates (UAE), expressing solidarity with the Emirati leadership and people during what he described as a difficult time.

In an official statement, the prime minister said he stood in complete unity with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan following the attacks that took place overnight. He emphasized that Pakistan fully supports the government and citizens of the UAE and remains committed to standing by its brotherly nation in the face of security challenges.

“Pakistan stands firmly with the leadership and the people of the UAE in this challenging time,” Shehbaz Sharif stated, underscoring the deep-rooted ties between the two countries.

The prime minister also stressed the urgent need to uphold the ongoing ceasefire in the region, warning that any escalation could further destabilize an already tense geopolitical environment. He called on all parties to respect the ceasefire and provide sufficient diplomatic space for dialogue and negotiations aimed at achieving long-term peace and stability.

“It is imperative that the ceasefire is maintained and respected. Constructive engagement and diplomacy are essential for sustainable peace in the region,” he added.

According to reports, the UAE was targeted with multiple aerial attacks, including three missiles and several drones. The Emirati Ministry of Defence confirmed that a total of 12 ballistic missiles, three cruise missiles, and four drones were launched toward the country. While the UAE has not disclosed the full extent of the damage, officials have stated that the country reserves the right to respond to these attacks.

The incident has further heightened tensions in the region, particularly amid the fragile ceasefire between Iran and the United States. The evolving situation has raised concerns about a broader conflict that could draw in multiple countries and threaten regional stability.

However, Iranian media outlets have denied any involvement in the attacks. Security sources quoted in Iranian reports rejected claims that the missiles and drones were launched from Iran, instead suggesting that the United States should be held responsible. According to these sources, the incident is being linked to what they described as American military adventurism in the region.

The conflicting narratives surrounding the attacks have added to the uncertainty, making it difficult to determine the exact origin and intent behind the strikes. Analysts warn that such incidents, if not addressed through transparent investigation and diplomatic engagement, could lead to further escalation.

Pakistan’s response reflects its broader foreign policy stance of promoting dialogue, de-escalation, and peaceful conflict resolution. By urging respect for the ceasefire and advocating for negotiations, Islamabad has positioned itself as a supporter of regional stability at a time when tensions remain high.

The international community is closely monitoring the situation, with calls growing for restraint from all sides. As the region navigates this delicate phase, the importance of diplomacy and adherence to international norms remains critical in preventing further conflict.

The attack on the UAE serves as a stark reminder of the fragile security environment in the Middle East, where even isolated incidents can quickly escalate into larger confrontations. Moving forward, the role of regional and global stakeholders in maintaining peace will be crucial in determining the trajectory of events.
