On the occasion of Labour Day, the Central President of Wahdat Employees Wing Pakistan, Brother Saleem Abbas Siddiqui, along with Abdullah Baloch, Central Member, and Syed Kashif Naqvi, Provincial President of Wahdat Employees Wing, issued a joint message highlighting the struggles of workers and government employees.

In their statement, they said that 1st May is a symbol of the historic struggle and sacrifices of labourers. They paid tribute to the Chicago workers of 1886 whose movement inspired workers across the world to raise their voices for their rights.

They stated that today’s labour class is facing severe financial pressure due to rising inflation, making it difficult for workers to meet their basic needs. They demanded that the government immediately increase the minimum wage so that workers can live a dignified life.

The leaders also expressed concern over recent pension reforms affecting government employees, saying these laws have created uncertainty for the future of workers. They demanded the immediate withdrawal of unfair pension policies and the introduction of a fair and sustainable pension system.

They strongly opposed the privatization of profitable government institutions, stating that it is against national interest and threatens thousands of jobs. They called for an immediate halt to privatization policies.

They further demanded the abolition of the contract employment system in government departments, saying it creates insecurity among workers. They emphasized that permanent employment should be ensured for stability and protection of employees.

In their concluding remarks, they said that Wahdat Employees Wing Pakistan will continue its struggle for the rights of workers and employees and will raise their issues at all forums. They said Labour Day is a reminder of unity, solidarity, and continuous struggle for rights and dignity.
