WASHINGTON: The United States is reportedly working on forming a new international coalition aimed at restoring safe maritime traffic in the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz.
According to a report by The Wall Street Journal, Washington has initiated efforts to bring together global partners under a proposed framework named “Maritime Freedom Construct” (MFC). The initiative is designed to ensure the uninterrupted flow of commercial shipping through the critical waterway.
The plan was referenced in a diplomatic cable sent by the US State Department to American embassies earlier this week, signaling a coordinated push to engage allied nations in the effort.
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most important النفط routes, with a significant portion of global oil shipments passing through it daily. Recent regional tensions and security concerns have disrupted maritime operations, raising alarm in global energy markets.
Through the proposed alliance, the US aims to enhance naval coordination, provide security escorts to commercial vessels, and deter potential threats to shipping in the region.
While details about participating countries and the timeline for implementation remain unclear, the move underscores growing international concern over stability in the Gulf and the need to safeguard critical trade routes.
