Fire Erupts at Landhi Factory, Three People Fall Ill
KARACHI: A major fire broke out at a garment factory in Karachi’s Landhi Export Processing Zone, leaving three people in critical condition due to smoke inhalation.
According to rescue officials, the factory filled with smoke after the fire broke out, causing the three individuals to become unwell. All people inside the factory were evacuated safely.
Rescue authorities said 16 fire tenders, a water bowser and a snorkel were taking part in the firefighting operation. The blaze was classified as a third-degree fire, while the factory building was reportedly weakened by the intense heat and flames.
Sindh Rangers personnel also joined the rescue operation after promptly reaching the scene in view of the seriousness of the incident.
A Rangers spokesperson said personnel were assisting firefighters and rescue teams in emergency operations. The spokesperson said the priority was to protect human lives and prevent the fire from spreading further.
Meanwhile, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah took notice of the fire at the garment factory in Landhi.
The chief minister directed authorities to immediately send additional fire tenders and necessary rescue equipment to the site to support firefighting and relief efforts.
