Pakistan and Egypt have called for renewed diplomatic efforts to implement the US-Iran memorandum of understanding and prevent the conflict from spreading.
According to Arab media, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty held a telephone conversation with Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar to discuss the regional situation, de-escalation efforts and ways to restore peace and stability.
Pakistan’s Foreign Office spokesperson said the two foreign ministers agreed to maintain communication and consultations on regional security issues. Abdelatty also invited Ishaq Dar to visit Egypt soon.
Separately, Ishaq Dar spoke by telephone with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan. They discussed regional and global developments, matters of mutual interest at multilateral forums and understandings reached by the strategic political and defence committee under the Makkah Defence Pact.
The two sides also reviewed progress on the understandings reached at the Istanbul meeting and agreed to maintain close coordination.
