SUKKUR (Danish Rajput): Defence Day was celebrated at Sukkur IBA University with national spirit and patriotism through a defence walk, awareness session, student speeches, national songs, and a ceremony for the distribution of certificates and awards.
Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Asif Ahmed Sheikh described Defence Day as a day of national remembrance and self-accountability, paying tribute to the sacrifices of the country’s defenders. He emphasized the importance of promoting unity, discipline and patriotism among the younger generation.
Pro Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Syed Mir Muhammad Shah urged students to contribute to Pakistan’s development through education, character-building and national service.
Deans, chairpersons, faculty members, officers, employees and students participated enthusiastically in the Defence Day walk. During the awareness session, students delivered speeches highlighting the significance of Defence Day and their responsibilities as citizens. National songs were also performed.
Certificates and awards were presented to participants who demonstrated outstanding performance in various activities, including the “From Battle of Truth to Nation Building” programme.
Registrar Dr Ashfaq Ahmed Lashari thanked the participants and organizers and stressed the need to maintain national unity and remain committed to Pakistan’s progress and prosperity.
The event concluded with a group photograph featuring the university leadership, faculty, officers, employees and students.
