SUKKUR : Following the tragedy at PIMS Hospital in Islamabad, Civil Defence Rohri has decided to further strengthen fire safety measures and emergency preparedness by continuing inspections, public awareness campaigns and training activities at various government and private institutions.
On the special directives of Sindh Director Civil Defence Riyaz Hussain Laghari, Sukkur Divisional Commissioner Abid Saleem Qureshi and the Deputy Commissioner/Controller Civil Defence Sukkur, fire safety inspections have been launched under the supervision of the Assistant Commissioner Rohri.
The inspections are being conducted by Civil Defence Rohri Office In-charge Imtiaz Bhutto and Senior Post Warden Agha Jabbar Khan to assess fire safety arrangements at various institutions and public facilities.
As part of the campaign, officials visited Taluka Hospital Rohri and conducted a detailed inspection of its fire safety arrangements, emergency exits, firefighting equipment, fire extinguishers, evacuation routes and other safety measures. Medical Superintendent of Taluka Hospital Rohri, Dr Shahid Hafeez, was also present during the inspection.
Civil Defence officials said inspections, public awareness activities and training programmes related to fire and emergency safety would continue on a regular basis to make Rohri safer.
Civil Defence Rohri has also started inspections at marts, LPG shops, petrol pumps, private clinics, schools and colleges to assess their fire safety arrangements and ensure the protection of human lives and property in the event of an emergency.
Senior Post Warden Civil Defence Rohri Agha Jabbar Khan expressed his determination to further accelerate Civil Defence activities aimed at ensuring compliance with fire safety SOPs, maintaining accessible emergency exits, ensuring the availability of firefighting equipment and promoting safety awareness among the public and institutions.
