MANSEHRA: An Irish tourist has gone missing while returning from Musa Ka Musalla, a 13,500-foot-high mountain peak in Mansehra, police said.
According to police, the missing tourist has been identified as Alexander, a citizen of Ireland. He had travelled to the mountain with another foreign national who was accompanying him on the expedition.
Police officials said the two foreign tourists had reached Musa Ka Musalla without obtaining the required No Objection Certificate (NOC).
The tourists reportedly agreed to descend separately while returning from the peak. However, Alexander failed to reach the designated lower point and was subsequently reported missing.
Following the report, local authorities launched a search operation to locate the missing tourist.
Police and rescue personnel are continuing efforts to trace Alexander, while details about his exact whereabouts remain unclear.
Search Operation Underway
According to police, teams are searching the mountainous terrain and surrounding areas for the missing tourist. The difficult terrain and high altitude could make the search operation challenging.
Authorities are also expected to obtain further information from the foreign tourist who accompanied Alexander in order to determine their movements after leaving the summit.
Police have reiterated that the two foreign visitors travelled to the peak without an NOC, which is required for such visits in the area.
