DADU REPORT
DADU: An old bloody dispute between two groups of the Chandio community near Dadu erupted again, leaving eight people dead and several others injured.
The clash took place between groups from Goth Dano Chandio and Goth Sheikh Gulab Chandio. Heavy firing between the two sides spread fear and panic across the area.
The dispute reportedly began around two years ago over a minor disagreement involving passage through a route. The conflict later turned violent, with five people previously killed in the feud.
The latest clash erupted again after another dispute between the two groups. Those killed included Zulfiqar alias Watni Chandio, Hajin Chandio, Bachal Chandio, Manzoor Chandio, Sultan Chandio, Dildar Chandio and Gulzar Chandio, while reports suggested additional casualties.
Dadu police rushed to the area after receiving information about the firing. The dead and injured were shifted to Dadu City Hospital and New DHQ Hospital under police supervision.
A passerby woman from the Lashari community, identified as Mst Gadi Lashari, was also seriously injured during the firing and was taken to hospital for treatment.
Police later reached both villages and managed to stop the firing. Additional police personnel were deployed in the area to prevent further violence.
The bodies were handed over to the families after legal formalities and post-mortem examinations.
Police said further investigation and legal proceedings are underway. A detailed official statement from police or the families of the victims had not been issued at the time of the latest reports.
