ISLAMABAD: The government has announced a slight reduction in the prices of petrol and diesel, with the new rates taking effect from August 29.

According to a notification issued by the Petroleum Division, the price of petrol has been reduced by 58 paisa per litre, bringing the new price to Rs342.02 per litre.

The price of high-speed diesel has also been reduced by 17 paisa per litre. Following the reduction, diesel will now cost Rs371.44 per litre.

The revised prices will remain applicable from August 29 to August 31.

The latest adjustment provides only marginal relief to consumers, as petroleum prices remain significantly high. The government reviews fuel prices periodically in line with changes in international oil prices and other relevant factors.
