QUETTA: Balochistan Home Minister Mir Ziaullah Langau has claimed that militants affiliated with Fitna al-Hindustan attempted to manipulate underage girls into carrying out suicide attacks in southern Balochistan, but security forces foiled the alleged plot.
Speaking at a press conference in Quetta, Langau alleged that militants were attempting to exploit young girls for terrorist activities and were also trying to undermine local social and cultural traditions.
According to the minister, two girls, identified as 16-year-old Zainab and 12-year-old Fatima, were allegedly recruited from the Makran region. He claimed that they were kept in confinement for around 40 days and were subjected to indoctrination aimed at preparing them for suicide attacks.
Langau said the alleged attempt was stopped by security forces before the girls could carry out any attack. He expressed concern over how the minors had been exposed to militant influence and urged families and communities to remain vigilant against efforts to recruit young people.
The minister claimed that the girls had been taken from the Makran area and allegedly brought under the influence of militants for the purpose of carrying out suicide attacks.
He further alleged that the militants were attempting to use false narratives to influence local communities and recruit young people. Langau said such efforts were unacceptable and should be strongly condemned.
The Balochistan home minister also said that the government was providing children with opportunities in education, healthcare and other areas to help them build a secure future.
He praised the security forces for their ongoing counterterrorism operations and said that the forces were continuously engaged in efforts to prevent militant attacks across the province.
“If one incident takes place, the security forces also prevent many other incidents,” Langau said, highlighting what he described as the continuous efforts of law-enforcement agencies to protect the public.
The minister also made allegations concerning the killing of members of Zainab’s family. He claimed that between eight and ten members of her family, including her husband, were killed by Fitna al-Hindustan.
Langau further alleged that a man named Saif was killed after refusing to work with the militant organisation. According to the minister, following Saif’s death, a local militant commander established contact with his widow, Zainab.
He said the alleged sequence of events demonstrated how militant groups could exploit vulnerable individuals and families for their organisational objectives.
Langau maintained that the government and security forces were working to counter such activities and prevent militants from recruiting civilians, particularly young people.
The allegations come amid continued security challenges in Balochistan, where authorities have reported militant attacks and counterterrorism operations in different parts of the province.
The minister said security forces remained committed to confronting militant organisations and preventing attacks before they could cause casualties.
He also called attention to the importance of community awareness and parental responsibility in protecting children from extremist influence. According to him, families and communities must remain alert to attempts by militant groups to manipulate or recruit young people.
Langau said the government would continue working to provide educational and social opportunities for children so that they could pursue their studies and develop their skills in a safe environment.
The minister’s comments underline the security concerns surrounding the alleged recruitment of minors by militant organisations. The use of children in violent activities is a serious concern because of their vulnerability to manipulation and coercion.
Security officials have repeatedly stressed the need for cooperation between law-enforcement agencies and local communities to identify recruitment networks and prevent young people from being drawn into militant activities.
Langau said the fight against terrorism required continued vigilance and cooperation from the public. He maintained that security forces were actively working across the province to disrupt militant networks and protect civilians.
He also rejected what he described as militant propaganda designed to create fear and division among local communities.
The minister said the government would continue its efforts against terrorism while focusing on education, healthcare and development as key tools for providing young people with better alternatives.
The alleged foiled plot involving the two girls is expected to draw further attention to the methods allegedly used by militant groups to recruit vulnerable individuals.
