LONDON: Pakistan cricket team head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed has refused to blame individual players for the team’s poor performance during the England tour, saying he will take full responsibility.
Speaking after the second day of the Lord’s Test, Sarfaraz said the players had struggled, particularly in batting, but deserved support during difficult times.
He said players including Mohammad Rizwan, Saud Shakeel and Salman Ali Agha had performed well previously and would be assessed after the series.
Sarfaraz said the management would decide after the series who should remain in the squad and who should be dropped.
He also stressed the importance of first-class cricket and urged players to work on their weaknesses.
“We are a professional team and must perform according to international standards,” he said.
