Chairperson of the Child Protection & Welfare Bureau Punjab, and Member of the Provincial Assembly Sarah Ahmad (T.I) attended a ceremony marking Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day as the chief guest, where she praised the Pakistani diaspora for serving as ambassadors of the country through their professional achievements and public contributions.
The event, organised by the AUSPAK Youth Association, was attended by Australian dignitaries, including the Australian High Commissioner and a member of parliament, as well as members of the Pakistani community, business leaders, representatives of the doctors’ association and media personnel.
Addressing the gathering, Sarah Ahmad extended Independence Day greetings to the community and said she was delighted to meet Pakistanis living in Australia. She said their achievements in their respective professions and their contributions to Australian society were a source of pride for Pakistan.
“You are Pakistan’s brand ambassadors and its true representatives,” she said, adding that the success of every overseas Pakistani contributed to the country’s standing and reputation abroad.
Sarah Ahmad said Pakistan, under the leadership of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, was moving towards greater stability, sovereignty and economic progress. She said every generation had a responsibility to contribute to the country’s peace, prosperity, and development.
In a message to young Pakistanis, she urged them to remain proud of their national identity and to stay connected with Pakistan’s history, culture and values. She encouraged them to pursue their goals with hard work, dedication and integrity so that their achievements would bring honour to Pakistan wherever they lived.
Drawing on her work in child protection, Sarah Ahmad said Pakistan must strive to become a country where every child has access to safety, dignity, quality education and equal opportunities to progress. She said the Child Protection & Welfare Bureau, under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, was continuing efforts to provide protection, rehabilitation, education and skills development to children who had experienced abuse and exploitation.
The ceremony also highlighted the friendship and growing ties between Pakistan and Australia. It concluded with the cutting of a cake to mark Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day, as participants celebrated the occasion with national pride and enthusiasm.
