Targeting a Country’s Leadership Is the Worst Form of Terrorism: Jamaat-e-Islami Condemns Israeli Strike on Iran

Karachi: The chief of Jamaat-e-Islami, Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman, has strongly condemned the reported U.S. and Israeli attack on Iran, describing the alleged killing of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei as a grave loss for the entire Muslim world.

Speaking at a press conference in Karachi, Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman expressed deep sorrow and regret over the reported martyrdom of Ayatollah Khamenei. He stated that the loss was not just for Iran but for the entire Muslim Ummah. According to him, targeting the leadership of a sovereign nation amounts to the worst form of state-sponsored terrorism and represents a dangerous escalation in global conflicts.

He asserted that discussing regime change in Iran was equivalent to tearing apart international legal norms. “To target the leadership of any country is the most extreme form of state terrorism,” he said, adding that such actions undermine the principles upon which international law is built.

The Jamaat-e-Islami leader further criticized the United States, claiming that its history is filled with violations of international law. He said that the alleged attack on Iran was unprovoked and deserved unequivocal condemnation. “The United States and Israel have once again proven themselves to be terrorist states,” he remarked, adding that the reported strike constituted an open violation of international law and the Charter of the United Nations.

Hafiz Naeem also alleged that civilians, including young girls, had been killed in the strikes. He described the attack as a blatant breach of humanitarian principles and accused both Washington and Tel Aviv of disregarding global norms and moral standards.

Referring to broader geopolitical tensions, he warned that such actions could destabilize the entire Middle East and further inflame anti-Western sentiment across the Muslim world. He urged international institutions to take notice of what he described as aggression and to ensure accountability under international law.

During the press conference, Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman also addressed the recent tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan. He emphasized that the Muslim world should play a constructive role in ending hostilities between the two neighboring countries. According to him, unity among Muslim nations is crucial at a time when external threats and internal divisions are deepening instability in the region.

He alleged that Afghan territory was being used for conspiracies against Pakistan and warned that Afghanistan should carefully assess its regional alliances. “India can never be a true friend of Afghanistan,” he stated, urging both Islamabad and Kabul to prioritize dialogue over confrontation. He stressed that disputes should be resolved through diplomatic channels rather than escalating into prolonged conflict.

The Jamaat-e-Islami chief further called for national unity within Pakistan, stating that the country is currently in urgent need of political cohesion. He emphasized that all political parties must sit together to address pressing national and regional challenges. According to him, internal divisions only weaken the country at a time when external pressures are mounting.

He concluded by urging the government to adopt a clear and principled stance on international issues, particularly those affecting the Muslim world. He reiterated that aggression against any sovereign state must be condemned and that Pakistan should advocate for justice, peace, and adherence to international law on global platforms.

The press conference reflects growing political reactions within Pakistan to the escalating tensions involving Iran, Israel, and the United States. As regional developments continue to unfold, political and religious parties across the country are voicing strong opinions, highlighting the far-reaching impact of Middle Eastern conflicts on South Asian political discourse.
