Pakistani senior actor Shahnawaz Zaidi has revealed that he decided to marry for a second time after the death of his first wife left him emotionally disconnected from life.
Speaking during a recent television programme, the actor discussed one of the most difficult periods of his life and explained what ultimately led him to reconsider his views about remarriage.
Shahnawaz Zaidi said he had never imagined that he would marry again. In fact, he was strongly opposed to the idea of a second marriage and would even laugh whenever someone mentioned it in front of him.
He recalled jokingly asking why anyone would consider remarriage at such a time.
However, after his first wife passed away, the actor said his emotional state changed considerably. For some time, he became absent-minded and lost interest in almost everything around him.
He explained that he felt his heart had become detached from the world and that he no longer found pleasure or interest in the things he previously enjoyed.
The actor said he also experienced a strange sense of disconnection, feeling as though he was physically present somewhere but mentally and emotionally absent from that moment.
It was during this difficult period, he said, that he gradually realized he needed companionship again and began to consider remarriage.
Shahnawaz Zaidi described the decision as something he had never expected to make, particularly given his earlier opposition to the idea of marrying again.
His comments shed light on the emotional challenges people can face after losing a life partner and how grief can influence major personal decisions.
