Tehran: Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei has stated that if the United States attacks Iran, the conflict will spread throughout the region.
Ayatollah Khamenei’s remarks come at a time of rising tension between Washington and Tehran, with U.S. President Donald Trump repeatedly making threatening statements regarding Iran.
According to Iranian state media, Ayatollah Khamenei said that President Trump repeatedly talks about deploying warships, but the Iranian nation will not be intimidated by such threats.
Ayatollah Khamenei stated, “Trump keeps saying that he has sent ships. The Iranian nation will not be scared by these statements, nor will the Iranian people be cowed by such threats.”
He further said, “We do not initiate attacks on any country, nor do we want to, but if anyone attacks or harasses the Iranian nation, the Iranian nation will give a harsh response.”
It is worth noting that the U.S. has increased its naval presence in the Middle East. According to the U.S. Navy, there are currently six destroyers, one aircraft carrier, and three littoral combat ships in the region.
