LARKANA : Renowned religious scholar, teacher of Hadith and Tafsir, and prominent Sunni preacher Hazrat Allama Maulana Mufti Muhammad Abdul Rab Sindhi Ghafari (RA) passed away after a brief illness at Dow University Hospital in Karachi.
Following the sad news, a large number of devotees and followers from across Sindh gathered at his ancestral village to pay their respects and participate in his funeral prayers.
The funeral prayer of the distinguished scholar, Allama Maulana Abdul Rab Sindhi Ghafari Naqshbandi, was led by Pir Abdul Ghafar Jan Naqshbandi, the spiritual successor of the renowned spiritual shrine of Hazrat Pir Mitho Sain (RA).
The funeral was attended by Sahibzada Muhammad Khalil-ur-Rehman Ghafari, Sahibzada Muhammad Masoom Ghafari, Allama Syed Muhammad Shah Bukhari, Allama Maulana Muhammad Ibrahim Khalili, Hafiz Muhammad Qasim Khalili, Mufti Sajid Hussain Farooqui, Professor Dr. Shuja Ahmed Abbasi, Engineer Liaquat Ali Mirani, Bashir Ahmed Abro, Ahmed Bakhsh Karmani, Muhammad Babar Ghafari, Allama Muhammad Hassan Sikandari, Maulana Fida Hussain Sikandari, Maulana Munawar Ali Tahiri, Pir Syed Ahmed Ali Shah, Pir Syed Ghulam Shabbir Shah Bukhari, Syed Mehboob Ali Shah and a large number of other devotees and followers.
The late scholar was 65 years old. He is survived by eight sons—Abdul Rehman, Habib-ur-Rehman, Maulana Aziz-ur-Rehman, Maulana Ata-ur-Rehman, Maulana Fayyaz-ur-Rehman, Hafiz Khalil-ur-Rehman, Hafiz Qari Maulvi Rafiq-ur-Rehman and Maulana Saif-ur-Rehman—as well as a daughter, grandchildren and his widow.
Throughout his life, Maulana Abdul Rab Sindhi Ghafari dedicated himself to spreading the message of love and devotion to the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Until the final period of his life, he regularly delivered sermons and religious guidance at two Jamia mosques on Fridays.
His religious lectures and teachings were widely heard across Sindh, Balochistan, Punjab and other parts of the country, as well as abroad. Through his speeches, he played a significant role in promoting the teachings of the Ghafaria Naqshbandia Mujaddidia spiritual tradition.
The late scholar also served as the Khatib (Friday prayer preacher) at the Jamia Mosque of the renowned Rampuri Sarkar shrine in Khairpur Mirs for 21 years, where he remained associated with religious preaching and guidance for a long period.
Professor Dr. Shuja Ahmed Abbasi paid tribute to the deceased scholar, saying that great personalities like Maulana Abdul Rab Sindhi Ghafari are born only once in centuries. He described him as a distinguished intellectual, literary and spiritual personality.
He prayed that Allah Almighty elevate the deceased’s ranks, accept his religious services and grant his family and followers patience and strength to bear the loss. Ameen.
