Dhaka: The official election campaign for the general elections scheduled to be held on February 12 in Bangladesh has begun.
The first general elections after the end of Sheikh Hasina’s government are set to take place on February 12, 2026. Political parties and independent candidates have formally launched their election campaigns.
The National Citizen Party, formed by young activists who led the movement against Sheikh Hasina, began its campaign from Dhaka.
Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh has also launched its election campaign from the capital, Dhaka.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) leader Tarique Rahman held a roadshow in the Sylhet district.
On the other hand, due to a ban, former Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s party, the Awami League, is not participating in the electoral race.
