HYDERABAD: Pakistan is the result of the sacrifices made by the country’s great leaders, speakers said at an Independence Day ceremony organized for visually impaired people in Latifabad, Hyderabad.

The event was organized by the Hyderabad Welfare Association of the Blind to highlight the importance of education, training and protection for visually impaired persons.

Addressing the ceremony as the chief guest, Good Hope Lions Club Hyderabad President Lion Aslam Khan said that Pakistan was a precious achievement secured through the sacrifices and struggles of the nation’s great leaders.

He said Independence Day was not merely an occasion for celebration but also an opportunity to renew one’s commitment and loyalty to the homeland.

Assistant Director Social Welfare, Latifabad Taluka, Shaza Fatima, along with organization President Abdul Rasheed Khan, General Secretary A.D. Pirzada, Senior Vice President Haji Muhammad Yasin Arain, Lion Shamsher Khan, Lion Kamran Chaniwala, Lion Muzammil Hussain, Abdul Ghani Ansari, Lion Arjun Kumar, Madam Shehnaz, Haji Aslam Raja and Lion Umair were also present at the event.

A large number of visually impaired children and girls participated in the ceremony.

Students of the institution presented national and other songs, while speeches and tableaus were also performed as part of the Independence Day programme.

A cake was also cut to commemorate Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day, adding to the celebrations.

Speaking on the occasion, the organizers and participants highlighted the importance of providing equal opportunities to persons with visual disabilities, particularly in the fields of education, vocational training and social protection.

They said that visually impaired children and young people should be provided with the facilities and opportunities necessary to become active and productive members of society.

A.D. Pirzada and other speakers said that all Pakistanis must work together to strengthen the country’s journey toward national unity, peace and development.

They emphasized that Independence Day should inspire citizens to play their role in building a peaceful, prosperous and inclusive Pakistan.

The speakers also stressed that the sacrifices made by the country’s founders and freedom movement leaders placed a collective responsibility on the present generation to protect national unity and contribute to the country’s progress.

The participation of visually impaired children and girls gave the ceremony a special significance, with organizers reiterating their commitment to education, training and protection for people with visual disabilities.

The event concluded with expressions of national spirit and renewed pledges to contribute toward a stronger, peaceful and prosperous Pakistan.
