UMERKOT Umerkot Police held an important coordination meeting with religious scholars from different schools of thought to discuss security arrangements for processions and Milad gatherings during Rabi-ul-Awwal.
The meeting was held at the office of SSP Umerkot and was chaired by SSP Umerkot Suhai Aziz Talpur, QPM, PSP. The meeting focused on ensuring the peaceful, organized and secure conduct of religious processions and Milad gatherings across the district during Rabi-ul-Awwal.
Religious scholars belonging to different schools of thought and district police officers attended the meeting. Participants discussed the proposed security plan in detail and reviewed measures required to maintain law and order during religious events.
Addressing the scholars, SSP Suhai Aziz Talpur said that maintaining peace and security was a collective responsibility and that cooperation from religious scholars and community leaders was essential to achieving this objective.
She emphasized the importance of maintaining close coordination between the police and religious scholars, particularly during major religious gatherings when large numbers of people are expected to participate.
The religious scholars assured the police leadership of their full cooperation in maintaining peace and ensuring that Rabi-ul-Awwal events were conducted in a peaceful and disciplined manner.
The meeting also directed all SHOs of police stations across the district to remain in close contact with religious scholars and organizers within their respective jurisdictions.
Police officials were instructed to maintain regular communication with local religious leaders so that any potential issue could be identified and addressed promptly.
The participants also discussed the responsible use of social media during the religious month.
According to the policy discussed at the meeting, if any group or individual posts provocative, offensive or inflammatory content on social media, concerned parties should not take the law into their own hands.
Instead, they should immediately approach the relevant legal and law-enforcement authorities so that the matter can be dealt with according to the law.
The police made it clear that legal action would be taken against provocative or inflammatory material posted on social media in accordance with applicable laws.
The meeting stressed that social media users should exercise responsibility and avoid sharing material that could create tension or disturb communal harmony.
The SSP said that effective security arrangements would be implemented throughout Umerkot district during Rabi-ul-Awwal.
She said that police would closely monitor all processions, Milad gatherings and other religious events to ensure the safety of participants and prevent any untoward incident.
Security personnel would be deployed according to the requirements of individual events and sensitive locations, while police officers would remain in coordination with organizers and religious scholars.
SSP Suhai Aziz Talpur emphasized that maintaining peace during religious events required cooperation from all segments of society.
She urged religious scholars and organizers to play their role in promoting tolerance, harmony and mutual respect and to immediately inform police authorities about any suspicious or potentially problematic situation.
The meeting also highlighted the importance of timely communication between police officers and event organizers so that security concerns could be addressed before they developed into larger problems.
Police officials assured the participants that all necessary security measures would be taken to facilitate the peaceful observance of Rabi-ul-Awwal across the district.
The police leadership further directed officers to remain vigilant and ensure effective monitoring throughout the duration of religious activities.
The coordination meeting concluded with a renewed commitment by police and religious scholars to work together to maintain peace, protect citizens and ensure the safe and orderly conduct of Rabi-ul-Awwal processions and Milad gatherings.
Authorities reiterated that any attempt to create unrest through provocative speeches, social media content or other means would be dealt with according to the law.
