Residents of Goth Gondharo demand immediate recovery of Abdul Wajid and legal action against those allegedly involved
SUKKUR (Bureau Report): Residents of Goth Gondharo in Tehsil Kot Diji, Khairpur district, staged a protest outside the Sukkur Press Club against what they described as alleged excesses by influential individuals, a firing incident and the alleged abduction of a young man, Abdul Wajid son of Abdul Rehman Kandhro.
The protesters demanded the immediate recovery of the allegedly abducted youth and legal action against those responsible for the reported incident.
Those participating in the demonstration included Habibullah Kandhro, Muhammad Ibrahim Kandhro, Abdul Rehman Kandhro and Ghulam Muhammad Kandhro, who appealed to senior authorities to intervene immediately.
Speaking to the media, the protesters alleged that a few days ago several individuals, including Muhammad Anwar son of Ghulam Rasool, Munawar Ali son of Ghulam Rasool, Ghulam Sarwar son of Qadir Bakhsh, Irshad Ali son of Qadir Bakhsh, Haq Nawaz son of Qadir Bakhsh, Javed son of Sain Bakhsh, Wazir Ali son of Fareed Ahmed and Nazir Ahmed son of Fareed Ahmed, along with others, allegedly entered their village while armed and opened fire.
According to the protesters, Muhammad Arif son of Habibullah Kandhro sustained serious injuries in the alleged firing.
They further alleged that Abdul Wajid son of Abdul Rehman Kandhro was forcibly taken away by the armed individuals during the incident.
The protesters said that no information regarding Abdul Wajid’s whereabouts had been received since the alleged incident, causing severe anxiety and fear among his family members.
They appealed to the authorities to make every possible effort to locate the missing youth and ensure his safe recovery.
According to the protesters, after receiving information about the incident, respected members of various communities and tribes reached the area and played a mediating role to prevent the situation from escalating further.
They said the intervention of local elders helped prevent the dispute from developing into a larger confrontation and potentially causing further loss of life and property.
Habibullah Kandhro and other protesters alleged that the individuals nominated in connection with the incident were influential and that they feared further threats to their lives and property.
They claimed that they had approached the relevant police authorities and law-enforcement agencies seeking justice and protection, but alleged that effective action had not yet been taken against those accused.
The protesters expressed concern over what they described as delays in the recovery of Abdul Wajid and said the uncertainty surrounding his whereabouts was causing increasing distress to his family.
They also alleged that in some instances, the facts of the incident were not being properly conveyed by police officials to senior authorities, which they claimed was creating difficulties for the affected families in obtaining justice.
The protesters demanded that senior police officials personally review the matter and ensure that all aspects of the reported firing and alleged abduction were investigated impartially.
They said the investigation should establish the facts, identify those responsible for any unlawful acts and ensure that action was taken strictly according to the law.
The protesters appealed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan, Chief of Army Staff, Prime Minister of Pakistan, Minister for Defence, Inspector General of Police Sindh, DIG Sukkur, SSP Khairpur and other relevant senior authorities to take immediate notice of the matter.
They specifically demanded the safe and immediate recovery of Abdul Wajid son of Abdul Rehman Kandhro.
They also called for a transparent investigation into the alleged firing and abduction and urged the authorities to take legal action against anyone found responsible.
The protesters further requested protection for themselves and their families, saying they feared for their safety because of the alleged influence of the people they had accused.
They demanded that Muhammad Arif Kandhro, who was allegedly injured in the firing incident, be provided justice and that the affected family receive complete legal protection.
The protesters maintained that their primary concern was the safe recovery of Abdul Wajid and the protection of their families from any further harm.
They urged the authorities to intervene without delay and prevent the dispute from escalating into further violence.
The allegations made by the protesters have not been independently verified, and the individuals named in their statements have not publicly provided their version of events.
