SUKKUR/PANO AQIL/DADLO (Bureau Report): A resident of Goth Pir Bakhsh Malik in the Dadlo area of Pano Aqil staged a protest outside the Sukkur Press Club along with his elderly mother, alleging that a local man had subjected his family to harassment, threats and an alleged attack over a disputed loan and interest payments.

The protester, Muhammad Rafiq Malik, appeared at the Sukkur Press Club with his elderly mother, Allah Jawai, and spoke to the media about what he described as ongoing harassment and intimidation.

According to Muhammad Rafiq Malik, he had borrowed Rs60,000 from a local man, identified as Ameer Korai, several months ago because of a personal financial need.

He claimed that he had already returned the borrowed amount in full. However, according to his allegation, despite repayment of the original loan, Ameer Korai was now demanding an additional Rs190,000 from him as interest.

Muhammad Rafiq Malik alleged that when he refused to pay the additional amount and complained about the matter, he began receiving threats of serious consequences.

He said the alleged threats had created fear and insecurity for him and his family, who were concerned about their safety.

The protester further alleged that an incident took place at his home the previous day while he was away.

According to his account, Ameer Korai allegedly arrived at his house along with several other individuals and attacked the residence. During the alleged incident, his elderly mother, Allah Jawai, was reportedly subjected to physical assault.

Muhammad Rafiq Malik claimed that local residents intervened after hearing about the incident and managed to bring the situation under control.

He alleged that the people involved in the attack subsequently fled the area along with their companions.

The family said that police were informed about the incident after the alleged attack. However, they claimed that effective action had not yet been taken against the alleged perpetrators.

The family further alleged that the accused individuals were influential and that their alleged influence was preventing effective police action.

These allegations have not been independently verified, and the person accused by the family has not publicly provided his version of events.

Muhammad Rafiq Malik and his elderly mother appealed to senior police officials and the relevant administration to take immediate notice of the matter.

They demanded an investigation into the alleged moneylending and threats and called for legal action against anyone found responsible for the alleged assault on the elderly woman.

The family also requested protection, saying they feared further harassment or violence if the dispute was not resolved through legal channels.

The protesters emphasized that they wanted the authorities to investigate the matter impartially and determine the facts surrounding the alleged loan dispute, the demand for additional money and the reported attack.

They said that the original loan had already been repaid and that they should not be subjected to further pressure or threats.

The alleged incident has also raised concerns among local residents about disputes arising from informal lending arrangements and demands for additional payments.

The family maintained that they were seeking justice through lawful means and urged police authorities to provide them with protection while investigating their allegations.

They appealed to senior police officials to ensure that their complaint was properly recorded and that any individuals found involved in harassment, threats or violence were dealt with according to the law.

The case remains subject to investigation, and the allegations made by the protesting family will need to be verified by the relevant authorities.

Police officials have yet to publicly provide detailed information regarding the allegations or confirm whether a formal case has been registered.

The family has reiterated its demand for an impartial inquiry, legal protection and action against those responsible if the allegations are established.

The protest concluded with the family calling on the authorities to intervene promptly and prevent the situation from escalating further.
