Authorities have imposed Section 144 in Murree from August 10 to 16 as part of enhanced security and traffic arrangements ahead of Independence Day celebrations.

In a video message, Murree District Police Officer (DPO) Raza Tanveer Sipra said special security and traffic measures had been put in place to ensure the safety of tourists and residents during the period. He said only families would be allowed to proceed towards Mall Road, while groups of non-family individuals would not be permitted to enter the area.

He warned that hooliganism, misbehavior and any activity disrupting public order would not be tolerated. According to Sipra, a complete ban has been imposed on aerial firing and the display of weapons. Police will also take action against people doing wheelies and dangerous stunts.

The DPO urged citizens and tourists to avoid fireworks and other illegal activities during Independence Day celebrations. He warned that indiscriminate action would be taken against anyone found violating Section 144.

Sipra appealed to the public to celebrate Independence Day peacefully and maintain law and order. He said the protection of the lives and property of the public remained the police’s top priority.
