KARACHI: A new five-member committee has been constituted to investigate the death of young Karachi businessman Mir Raza Ali, following the exhumation of his body and the emergence of questions surrounding the circumstances of his death.

According to an official notification, the newly formed investigation committee will be headed by DIG Amir Farooqui, while SSP RRFF Ali Raza has been appointed as the secretary of the committee.

The committee includes SP Investigation Korangi Qais Khan, SP Investigation Central Anum Tajammal, and SIO Zaman Town Chaudhry Ghazanfar as its members.

The notification states that the five-member team will investigate the case from all possible angles and examine the circumstances surrounding Mir Raza Ali’s death. The committee has also been directed to review relevant evidence and investigate aspects of the case that may require further clarification.

The formation of the new committee comes after the exhumation of Mir Raza Ali’s body for further investigation. The case has attracted attention following questions raised over the initial investigation and medical findings related to the young businessman’s death.

Earlier, an initial medical report had reportedly revealed injuries on Mir Raza Ali’s body, including wounds to his head and face and fractures to his ribs. The report also indicated that he had sustained a gunshot wound from the rear.

The medical findings prompted questions about the circumstances of the incident and whether all aspects of the case had been properly investigated during the initial stages.

Questions were also raised regarding the recovery of a bullet casing from the scene several days after the incident, as well as the forensic examination of the recovered casing. The role of a guesthouse located near the reported site of the incident has also been questioned by the victim’s family.

Police had reportedly recorded statements from dozens of individuals during the initial investigation, including people associated with the guesthouse. The new committee is expected to examine these and other relevant aspects of the case.

The authorities have now directed the newly constituted team to conduct a comprehensive investigation and determine the facts surrounding Mir Raza Ali’s death.

The first meeting of the five-member committee has been scheduled for tomorrow, according to the notification.

The formation of the committee is being seen as a fresh step toward addressing the questions raised by the victim’s family and other stakeholders. The investigators are expected to review the available evidence, medical findings, statements and other relevant material before reaching any conclusions.

Authorities have not yet announced any findings from the new investigation. The committee will submit its findings after completing the inquiry.
