A young man from Sindh has appealed to the DIG Sukkur, SSP and other relevant police authorities to take strict legal action against individuals allegedly involved in cyberbullying, online harassment and character assassination through social media platforms.

In a video that has circulated widely on social media, the young man displayed several Facebook posts that he claimed contained misleading allegations and derogatory captions directed against him and his cousin.

According to his allegations, individuals who were not authorized to use his personal content downloaded videos from his social media profile and subsequently used them to create what he described as defamatory posts. He claimed that the material was presented out of context in an attempt to construct false narratives, damage his reputation and ridicule the honor of his family.

The young man further alleged that the posts targeted not only him personally but also attempted to bring disrespect to his family and caste identity. He expressed concern that the misuse of personal videos and photographs on social media was being used as a tool to harass and publicly humiliate him and his relatives.

Appeal to Police Authorities

The complainant appealed to senior police officials in Sukkur and other relevant authorities to take notice of the matter and initiate legal proceedings against those allegedly responsible.

He called for the identification of the social media accounts involved and urged law-enforcement agencies to investigate how his personal videos were obtained, altered or republished without his permission.

He also requested that strict action be taken against individuals who use social media platforms to spread allegedly false information, insulting material or defamatory content against other citizens.

The young man said that online harassment should not be treated as a minor issue, particularly when social media content can rapidly reach large numbers of people and cause lasting damage to an individual’s reputation and personal life.

Call for Public Awareness

The youth also appealed to members of the public to report social media accounts that engage in harassment, bullying, threats or deliberate character assassination.

He urged social media users not to share or amplify allegedly defamatory material without verifying its authenticity, warning that the further circulation of such posts can increase the harm suffered by victims.

He called for responsible use of digital platforms and said social media should not become a means of targeting individuals, their families or communities.

Demand for Cybercrime Proceedings

The complainant specifically demanded that the relevant authorities initiate cybercrime proceedings against those allegedly responsible for the posts.

He maintained that people should be able to use social media without fear that their personal videos or photographs will be taken without consent and manipulated or republished for the purpose of humiliation or defamation.

The incident also highlights wider concerns surrounding the misuse of social media in Pakistan, where personal content can be copied and redistributed rapidly across different platforms.

Cyberbullying, harassment, impersonation, unauthorized use of personal material and defamatory online campaigns can have serious consequences for victims. In such cases, affected individuals may seek assistance from law-enforcement and relevant cybercrime authorities.

The young man’s appeal has drawn attention to the need for greater awareness about responsible social media use and the protection of personal privacy online.

He has called on the police to investigate the allegations, determine the individuals behind the disputed posts and take action in accordance with the law if wrongdoing is established.

The allegations remain claims made by the complainant, and the individuals or accounts accused of posting the material would have an opportunity to respond to the allegations.

The young man has nevertheless urged authorities to act promptly, saying that continued circulation of allegedly defamatory content could further damage his reputation and cause distress to his family.

He concluded his appeal by asking citizens to report malicious social media activity rather than participate in its circulation and called for stronger action against the misuse of digital platforms for harassment and character assassination.
