SUKKUR: A rally titled “Long Live Pakistan and Pakistan Armed Forces” was organised by Civil Defence Sukkur to mark national unity and express solidarity with the country’s armed forces.
The rally began from Globe Chowk and passed through Bandar Road and other major roads before concluding at Sukkur Press Club. Participants carried national flags and raised slogans in support of Pakistan and the armed forces.
The participants said that the people of Sukkur stood with Pakistan and its armed forces and would continue to play their role in promoting the country’s security, stability and development.
Addressing the rally, Deputy Chief Warden Civil Defence Sukkur Dr Saeed Awan said Pakistan had not been achieved easily. He said the country was the result of the sacrifices made by the nation’s founders and martyrs.
He said the peace and freedom enjoyed by the people today were linked to the sacrifices of the martyrs of the Pakistan Armed Forces, adding that the nation would always honour their services.
Dr Saeed Awan said respecting national institutions and maintaining unity were the responsibility of every Pakistani. He added that while disagreement was a democratic right, responsible behaviour was essential when matters concerning national security and the country’s defence were involved.
He urged citizens to remain united and contribute positively to Pakistan’s development, prosperity and stability.
He further said the Pakistan Armed Forces were performing their duties against terrorism and anti-state elements with professional skills, dedication and national commitment. He paid tribute to the armed forces for their services.
Group Warden Muhammad Ahmed Sheikh, Post Warden Haji Riaz Khokhar, Sheikh Adnan, Mahmood Ahmed, Incharge Officers Muhammad Asif Sheikh, Lala Imran Mirani, Lala Rehan Pathan, Muhammad Yaseen Qamar, Riaz Siddiqui, Muhammad Yousuf, Fayyaz Ahmed, Shahab Hussain, Adil Ashraf, Kancho Anees Khan, Arshad Akram, Javed Pyara and other Civil Defence wardens and a large number of citizens attended the rally.
