KARACHI: The exhumation of young businessman Mir Raza has been completed as part of efforts to determine the circumstances surrounding his death. Samples were collected from his remains for further examination.
Members of the medical board, Mir Raza’s family members, and lawyer Jibran Nasir were present at the Society Cemetery during the exhumation.
The police surgeon, head of the Identification Project, and a magistrate were also present at the cemetery. Strict security arrangements were made during the proceedings.
A member of the medical board said that all procedures related to the post-mortem examination had been completed. Different samples were collected from Mir Raza’s remains and will be sent for chemical analysis.
The official said that the remaining legal formalities were now being completed and the findings would be considered as part of the investigation.
Speaking to Geo News, Mir Raza’s father, Mir Hussain, said he was satisfied with the exhumation process.
He expressed hope that the issues he had raised regarding the earlier post-mortem would not be repeated this time. He said that he would accept whatever findings are presented in the new report.
Mir Hussain also addressed an audio recording circulating in connection with his son. He claimed that the voice in the recording did not belong to Mir Raza and alleged that it was being circulated as part of an attempt to damage the case.
The exhumation was carried out to obtain fresh medical evidence and help investigators establish the circumstances surrounding Mir Raza’s death.
The samples collected from the remains will undergo chemical analysis. The results could provide additional information to investigators and the medical board as they review the case.
The development comes after Mir Raza’s family had rejected a five-member medical board. Following their objection, the government restored the previous medical board to conduct the further proceedings.
The case has attracted significant attention, with questions being raised about the earlier medico-legal process and the circumstances surrounding the young businessman’s death.
The new examination and laboratory analysis are expected to provide further evidence for the ongoing investigation.
Authorities will now complete the remaining legal and medical procedures before the findings are formally presented. The family has said it will accept the results of the new post-mortem process.
