Rawalpindi: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Khan has said that the current system has lost the confidence of the public and that a reset has become inevitable.
Speaking to the media outside Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, Barrister Gohar said that there should be no disagreement over the need to reset the system. He added that there is a constitutional procedure for bringing a no-confidence motion and that consultations would be held with political allies on the matter.
He claimed that an important government ally had declared the prime minister’s government as election-rigged and said that he also considered the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) part of the same situation. According to him, after such allegations, the prime minister should have immediately sought a vote of confidence but failed to do so.
Barrister Gohar said the prime minister’s silence showed that public and political trust had weakened. He alleged that the entire government structure had practically collapsed and that the government had lost its moral justification.
He further claimed that, from constitutional, legal, and democratic perspectives, the government had lost its standing and could no longer continue in its current form.
