Islamabad: Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon has claimed that the “countdown” for the federal government has started, alleging that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) faced severe rigging and unfair treatment in the Azad Kashmir elections.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, Sharjeel Memon alleged that the federal government, Punjab government, and the Election Commission were involved in a coordinated effort to defeat PPP candidates in the Azad Kashmir elections.
He said that PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had already informed the federal government about the importance of the elections and urged that the interests of the people of Kashmir should be prioritized over political interests. He claimed that the interests of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) were given priority.
Sharjeel Memon said that PPP would not leave the field until the final stage and would continue raising its concerns through relevant forums with evidence and arguments.
He alleged that the Election Commission acted like a party institution and said that the events of the 2024 general elections were repeated. He claimed that the current government was formed through “Form 47” and described the Azad Kashmir government as “Form 47 plus.”
The Sindh minister criticized statements by federal ministers, saying they showed no regret over the allegations. He said that political arrogance would not continue for long.
Sharjeel Memon alleged that PPP workers faced violence during the elections and claimed that complaints submitted to the Election Commission were ignored. He also raised allegations regarding incidents in different constituencies, including LA-9 Nakyal and LA-31, and demanded action over these issues.
He further alleged that election materials were not delivered to several polling stations on time and claimed that attacks on political leaders were not properly investigated.
Sharjeel Memon said that PPP would not adopt a confrontational tone but would present its case through legal and constitutional forums. He reiterated that the party believes the federal government’s time is running out.
