MUZAFFARABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) emerged as the dominant party in the second phase of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly elections, winning 14 of the 19 seats for which unofficial and provisional results have been announced, while the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) secured five seats.
Voting was held on Sunday for 20 constituencies, including eight seats in the Muzaffarabad Division and 12 seats reserved for refugees living in Pakistan. Polling continued until the evening in most constituencies.
However, polling in LA-27 was postponed after election staff and polling material could not reach all 196 polling stations because of adverse weather conditions and landslides.
Overall Results
According to unofficial and provisional results released so far:
- PML-N: 14 seats
- PPP: 5 seats
- LA-27: Polling postponed
Constituency-Wise Results
LA-25 (Neelum Valley-I):
PML-N candidate Shah Ghulam Qadir won with 18,925 votes, defeating PPP’s Mian Abdul Waheed, who received 13,596 votes.
LA-26 (Neelum Valley-II):
PPP’s Mian Abdul Waheed secured victory with 17,466 votes, while PML-N’s Shah Ghulam Qadir finished second with 15,494 votes.
LA-29 (Muzaffarabad-III):
PPP candidate Sardar Mukhtar Khan won after polling 19,792 votes, ahead of PML-N’s Barrister Iftikhar Ali Gillani, who received 16,413 votes.
LA-30 (Muzaffarabad-IV):
PML-N’s Mustafa Bashir Abbasi won with 17,749 votes, defeating PPP’s Mubashir Munir Awan, who secured 11,947 votes.
LA-31 (Muzaffarabad-V):
PML-N candidate Saqib Majeed Raja was declared successful with 32,511 votes, while PPP’s Chaudhry Latif Akbar received 23,957 votes.
LA-32 (Muzaffarabad-VI):
Former AJK Prime Minister Raja Muhammad Farooq Haider of PML-N won with 21,156 votes, while PPP candidate Sahibzada Muhammad Ashfaq Zafar secured 19,010 votes.
LA-33 (Muzaffarabad-VII):
PPP’s Diwan Ali Khan Qamar Chughtai won with 25,469 votes, defeating PML-N’s Mian Muhammad Rashid, who obtained 21,175 votes.

- LA-45 (Kashmir Valley-VI): Abdul Majid Khan
Polling Delayed in LA-27
Election authorities postponed polling in LA-27 after severe weather and landslides prevented election officials and polling materials from reaching polling stations.
The Election Commission is expected to announce a new polling date for the constituency.
The results announced so far are unofficial and provisional and will become final after official notification by the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Election Commission.
