Islamabad Traffic Police on Sunday warned citizens of a new online scam involving fake e-challan alerts being used to target residents of the federal capital.
In a statement shared on social media platform X, the police said fraudulent SMS and WhatsApp messages claiming to be related to traffic violations are circulating with suspicious links.
The authorities warned that clicking on these links could redirect users to fake websites designed to steal personal information, banking details and other sensitive data.
Islamabad Traffic Police advised citizens not to open any unverified links, share personal or financial information, and verify all e-challan notifications only through official channels.
Officials said the following precautionary measures can help citizens protect themselves from online fraud and cybercriminal activities.
