Islamabad: The Pakistan Navy successfully rescued 19 stranded fishermen after their fishing boat developed an engine fault in the North Arabian Sea, officials said.
According to the Pakistan Navy, the naval ship PNS Taimur carried out the rescue operation after receiving a request through the Joint Maritime Information Coordination Centre (JMICC).
The fishing boat had become stranded approximately 120 nautical miles south of Gwadar after suffering an engine failure. There were 19 people on board, including 11 Pakistani and 8 Iranian fishermen.
Responding swiftly to the distress call, PNS Taimur reached the vessel and ensured the safety of all those on board. Navy personnel provided the stranded fishermen with food, drinking water, and medical assistance while rescue efforts were underway.
After ensuring the well-being of the crew, the Pakistan Navy safely towed the disabled fishing boat to the coast, bringing the rescue operation to a successful conclusion.
The operation highlights the Pakistan Navy’s ongoing commitment to maritime safety and its readiness to respond to emergencies in the country’s territorial waters and surrounding sea lanes. The Navy regularly conducts search and rescue missions to assist fishermen and commercial vessels facing difficulties at sea.
The successful rescue also reflects continued maritime cooperation in providing humanitarian assistance, as the rescued group included both Pakistani and Iranian nationals.
