Pakistan’s security forces successfully neutralized 22 militants during an intelligence-based operation in Bannu, marking another significant achievement in the country’s ongoing counterterrorism campaign. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operation was launched after receiving credible information regarding the presence of elements associated with “Fitna-e-Khawarij”, a network accused of being backed by foreign—particularly Indian—handlers.
Details of the Operation
ISPR reported that security personnel acted swiftly and precisely, targeting the militants’ hideouts in the area. A fierce exchange of fire ensued, during which 22 terrorists were killed. The operation was part of a broader strategy to dismantle terror networks attempting to regain a foothold in the region.
Following the engagement, security forces launched a clearance operation to locate any remaining militants believed to be supported by foreign agencies. ISPR emphasized that these follow-up actions are essential to ensure there are no threats left in the area.
Commitment Under “Azm-e-Istehkam”
The military’s media wing reiterated that operations under the national counterterrorism initiative “Azm-e-Istehkam” will continue until terrorism is fully eradicated. Security forces, in coordination with law enforcement agencies, remain determined to dismantle hostile networks operating within the country’s borders.
The ISPR added that eliminating terrorism funded and facilitated by external actors remains a top national security priority. The statement reaffirmed the armed forces’ resolve to protect Pakistan from destabilization attempts driven by foreign interference.
Prime Minister’s Tribute to Security Forces
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the security forces for the successful operation, calling the elimination of 22 terrorists a major victory. He commended the bravery, diligence, and sacrifice of the personnel involved and stated that the entire nation stood in solidarity with its armed forces in the fight against terrorism.
