Sukkur: Chairman of Union Committee No. 7, Shamsabad, in Town Maki Shah, Haji Wazir Ali Mehr, has said that serving the public remains the foremost responsibility of elected representatives, adding that every effort is being made to fulfil the commitments made to residents through ongoing development and welfare initiatives.
Speaking at a ceremony held under the Union Committee’s special welfare funds, Haji Wazir Ali Mehr said development projects across the UC were progressing with the support of the Mayor of Sukkur and local development funds, expressing confidence that the schemes would be completed soon.
The event featured the distribution of sewing machines worth more than Rs1.5 million among 73 female graduates of a vocational sewing centre established to promote women’s welfare and economic empowerment. In addition, four wheelchairs were presented to persons with disabilities residing in the Union Committee.
The ceremony was attended by UC Vice Chairman Muhammad Saleem Abro, General Councillors Muhammad Ishaq Brohi, Akhtar Ali Memon, Farooq Memon, Asif Larik, Majid Ali Bhutto, Radhey Mal, Bushran Bibi, Urooj Khan and Aamir Bhutto, along with other local dignitaries and community members.
During the event, the chairman also distributed course completion certificates to graduates of the sewing centre alongside the sewing machines, while wheelchairs were handed over to four beneficiaries with disabilities.
Addressing participants and later speaking to the media, Haji Wazir Ali Mehr said the Union Committee’s vision is centred on selfless public service and improving the quality of life for residents through welfare and development programmes.
He reaffirmed his commitment to continuing initiatives that support women, persons with disabilities and other vulnerable segments of society, saying public welfare would remain the Union Committee’s top priority.
