Moro, Sindh: A divorced woman and a young man from Moro have appealed to the authorities for protection after legally marrying in court, claiming they have been receiving death threats from the woman’s former husband and his relatives.

According to the couple, Shabnam Korai, a resident of Moro, and Mumtaz Ali Solangi solemnised their marriage through legal procedures at a local court based on their mutual consent.

Speaking to the media outside the court, Shabnam said that her former husband, Nabi Bakhsh Korai, had divorced her five months ago. Following the divorce, she decided to marry Mumtaz Ali Solangi of her own free will and in accordance with the law.

Shabnam alleged that her former husband, along with his relatives Ali Nawaz, Shahnawaz, Muhammad Qasim, and Anwar Ali Korai, had been issuing death threats to both the couple and their families.

The newly married couple said they had entered into the marriage legally after the completion of the divorce process and had committed no unlawful act.

Despite this, they claimed they were being continuously harassed and threatened by the opposing party.

The couple further stated that if any harm came to them or any member of their families, the individuals allegedly issuing the threats should be held responsible.

Shabnam and Mumtaz appealed to the Sessions Judge Moro, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Naushahro Feroze, and other relevant authorities to ensure the protection of their lives and property.

They also called on law enforcement agencies to take legal action against those allegedly involved in issuing threats and harassment.
