Tehran: A spokesperson for Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has claimed that more than 200 US military personnel have been killed in Iranian retaliatory strikes since what he described as a violation of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding.
In an interview with an Iranian news agency, IRGC spokesperson General Hossein Mohbi alleged that the official casualty figures released by Washington are “completely false” and significantly understate US military losses.
According to the general, Iranian attacks targeted eight US military facilities across the region. He further claimed that 20 protective shelters at one of the targeted sites were destroyed during the strikes.
General Mohbi said the number of injured US personnel was “far higher” than the number of fatalities he cited.
He also challenged the US government to allow journalists to visit the affected military installations.
“The US government should take journalists to the destroyed military bases so they can see for themselves how many American soldiers were killed,” he said.
The claims have not been independently verified, and US authorities have not publicly confirmed the casualty figures or the alleged destruction described by the IRGC spokesperson.
The statement reflects Iran’s official narrative regarding the reported military exchanges and comes amid continued tensions between Tehran and Washington. Independent verification of battlefield claims made by either side remains difficult during periods of conflict.
