Islamabad: Former Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz has formally assumed office at the Prime Minister House, according to party sources.
The sources said Hamza Shehbaz met several federal ministers on Saturday as part of his initial engagements after taking charge. He will operate from an office located on the sixth floor of the Prime Minister House.
According to party officials, Hamza Shehbaz will also oversee matters related to the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) and is expected to play a more active role in coordinating parliamentary and administrative affairs.
Party sources further stated that he plans to establish a committee dedicated to addressing the concerns and grievances of party workers.
Hamza Shehbaz is scheduled to begin handling his official responsibilities on a regular basis from Monday, when he will formally start attending to office matters.
The development is being viewed as an expansion of Hamza Shehbaz’s role within the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the federal government’s administrative structure.
Hamza Shehbaz previously served as the Chief Minister of Punjab and is the son of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. No official statement has yet been issued by the Prime Minister’s Office regarding the exact nature or designation of his new responsibilities.
